Les Sentiers d'Antan

Welcome to the site of the walking club of Belvès in the Périgord Noir

My right foot is jealous of my left foot. When one foot steps forward the other foot wants to pass it. So like an idiot, I walk!

Update: monday 06 december 2012

The Sentiers d'Antan ('Ancient Footpaths') is based in Belvès in the Perigord Noir and has more than 130 members. We organise walks every Wednesday and once a month on a Sunday. Regular walking holidays are also organised, and the association participates in many local events and festivals. We aim for a convivial walk balancing cardio-vascular exercise and muscle relaxation, on our wonderful footpaths rich with our local heritage. We expect to pause for a brief rest every 45 minutes.

For an occasional walk, non members, holiday makers, and residents of Belvès and its surroundings are welcome to attend free of charge (some conditions may apply ) and with their own insurance.

Membership is 15 €. Equipment is not expensive : just good shoes, sunglasses, hat, waterproof and a drink, but above all good humour.

Wednesday walks. (Every Wednesday except Bank Holidays).

Each walk has two groups so that the walks can be adapted to the needs of all.

It is possible to join us at the actual departure of each walk - this is indicated on the right hand bar of this site on the day of the walk. However, there is always a departure from Boulevard de la Moissie which is the parking area between the swimming pool and the church in Belvès, at 8h30 in summer  and 14h in winter . Walks last between 2 and 3 hours.

Occasionally there are 'themed' walks, for example during the mushroom season.

Sunday walks.(Once a month except in the summer)

Departure: place de la Brèche (in front of post office) or as indicated on this web site.

Bring your own picnic lunch or occasionally food is arranged.

Local events.

The Association is involved in many local events, including giving support to the Belvès 100km run, the local 'Randonnée en Fête' (festival of walking), and the seniors sports days to name a few.

Walking Holidays.

As a member of the Association you have the opportunity of joining organised walking holidays, which usually take place in the Spring and the Autumn. Provisional plans are in place for 2014.

On this web site you can also find maps of our walks, photos, our newsletter , information about the association , useful links and also recipes (we await yours)...
